Kelvin Wachira Njenga is an innovative and results-driven Energy Expert with extensive experience in the solar photovoltaic (PV) industry, particularly within the Kenyan market. Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Energy Technology, he holds a Bachelor of Science in Renewable Energy Technology, equipping him with a solid foundation in research development, project management, engineering design, and operational excellence. His expertise enables him to navigate complex project landscapes, delivering renewable energy solutions that are efficient, sustainable, and economically viable.
From July 2021 to April 2023, Kelvin served as a Project Manager at Starsight Premier Energy Group, where he spearheaded the strategic planning and execution of large-scale commercial and industrial (C&I) solar PV installations. He successfully supervised the installation, testing, and commissioning of a 520.8 kWp Solar PV Plant with a 540 kWh Battery Energy Storage System, as well as a 120 kWp Solar PV Plant with a 200 kWh Battery Storage System. Kelvin orchestrated the full project lifecycle, encompassing design, procurement, construction, and commissioning, while ensuring compliance with national standards and regulatory requirements.
His leadership skills were evident as he led cross-functional teams to complete projects under budget and ahead of schedule. He developed and managed detailed project schedules and resource allocation, optimizing productivity and efficiency across multiple projects. Kelvin conducted thorough risk assessments and mitigation planning, ensuring proactive solutions were in place to address potential challenges swiftly. He established and maintained strong relationships with clients, contractors, and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and successful project handovers.
Since May 2023, Kelvin has taken on the role of Senior Engineering Manager at Safer Power Limited, where he directs strategic technical research and development within the Engineering Department. He fosters innovation that aligns with corporate goals and advances the renewable energy department, overseeing the engineering of C&I Solar PV installations, including system testing, diagnosis, and robust design.
