Amukoya’s professional journey showcases a rapid progression in the field of civil engineering. Currently serving as a Senior Site Engineer at Cathemax Investment Ltd since May 2023, he demonstrates proficiency in overseeing technical designs, supervising contracted staff, preparing comprehensive site reports, and providing expert technical advice. His role extends to resource allocation, cost monitoring, and stakeholder communication, highlighting his project management skills.
Prior to his current position, Amukoya worked as an Assistant Structural Engineer at Select Structural Consultants from June 2022 to May 2023. In this role, he honed his skills in structural design and analysis, particularly for low-rise and high-rise structures. His responsibilities included preparing detailed structural drawings, specifications, and bar bending schedules, as well as supervising construction works and ensuring compliance with civil engineering standards.
Amukoya’s early career experiences include a civil engineering traineeship at the Materials Testing and Research Division Headquarters in Nairobi, where he gained valuable experience in material testing and evaluation. He also worked as a Structural Engineer Trainee and Head of Small Scale Projects at Yaxen Construction Ltd, further diversifying his practical experience in the field.
Throughout his career, Amukoya has been involved in numerous significant projects, including the ongoing construction of the Vihiga County Referral Hospital doctor’s plaza, the completion of Vihiga county’s modern Funeral Home, and the design of various residential and commercial structures across Kenya. His project portfolio demonstrates his versatility in handling diverse engineering challenges, from multi-story apartment complexes to steel frame church structures.
Amukoya’s technical proficiency extends to various software tools essential in modern civil engineering, including AutoCAD, SAP2000, SAFE, ETABS, STAAD Pro, and Protastructure. He has also conducted research on using molten plastic as a thermo binder in the production of lightweight bricks, showcasing his interest in innovative construction techniques.
